Alaska offers help registering to vote Tuesday

If you haven’t signed up to vote in Alaska’s Nov. 6 general election, state officials are ready to help you do so Tuesday on National Voter Registration Day.

Alaska voters face a deadline by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 7 to register or update information, which can be done on the Alaska Division of Elections website.

Josie Bahnke, the division’s director, encourages Alaskans to “remind their friends, families and neighbors to register to vote now or double-check their registration information to make sure it reflects where they currently reside ahead of the statutory deadline.”

If you’d rather speak with someone in person, you have a few options. One is to visit a Division of Elections’ office. There are locations in Juneau, Anchorage, the MatSu, Fairbanks and Nome.

Anchorage will also host registration drives in or near Mountain View on Tuesday.

From noon to 4 p.m., volunteers will be outside the Red Apple Market in Mountain View.

Then from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the groups When We All Vote, the Alaska Center Education Fund and the YWCA will host a rally at the Mountain View Library.

The final event is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Carrs Safeway store in the Northway Mall.
