Our Endorsed Candidates for Fairbanks

As a longtime community volunteer, the opportunity to run for City Mayor gives me the ability to continue my vision to make Fairbanks a better place to live, work, thrive and succeed. My elected and business experience will help me lead the City into the future. I hope to focus our community on where we want the City to be in the next five to ten years.

I have always advocated for clean water and air and supported the City’s efforts to provide bottled water and later hook up the homes that have been damaged by the Pfas contamination. Climate change is real. We need to beef up our efforts to reduce the effects our community is experiencing due to climate change. As a member of the League of Women Voters, I have advocated for a strong democracy in which everyone has a voice in our community affairs.

I own 5th Avenue Design & Graphics and support businesses like my own that make our Downtown vibrant. I am passionate about helping shape our future. As a young city, we are ripe with opportunity. After 20 years of volunteering, I see running for Council as a natural step from VOLUNTEERING to SERVING.

VISION: City Maintenance needs to be funded appropriately. We need to tackle homelessness and the mental illness that results in homelessness. We need to work with our non-profit partners to see that folks get the help they need. I applaud the City for creating the Mobile Crisis Team, a group of credentialed professionals who are specially trained to help people in crisis rather than sending in armed police.

Our housing stock is aging and in short supply. We need new single-family and multi-families homes built or rehabbed to make our city welcoming to young professionals and families.

I wasn’t born & raised in Fairbanks like some, I am one of many people who came here on a whim and never went home, that was over 20 years ago for me. I have lived all across the US, and I had never been part of a community as welcoming and special as Fairbanks. I have raised my children here from FNA head start and our public school system. Alaska, Fairbanks in particular, has given me a life I am truly blessed to have. I would like to help shape and grow our community to be that wonderful inclusive place that I have found, for all our community members. Low-cost energy, clean air & water, mitigating the impacts of climate change & healthy fish should be considered in decisions going forward. They are ALL essential to maintaining a healthy & vibrant city for generations to come.
