The Alaska Center's Endorsed Candidates
Erin Whitney grew up in Anchorage, Alaska, and has 15 years of experience working in the energy sector. She is a researcher at the Alaska Center for Energy and Power (ACEP), with who The Alaska Center has partnered for years on the Anchorage and Fairbanks Solarize programs, which aim to make solar energy more accessible and affordable to communities. Erin supports the goal of reaching 100% clean energy by 2050 and recognizes that reliability and affordability are just as important issues as well. She wants to encourage Chugach Electric Association to further incentivize electric vehicles, pursue battery & energy storage mechanisms to accommodate variable renewable generation, engage with independent power producers, support rooftop and community solar projects, and raise the current Net Metering cap of 1.5%. If elected, Erin will bring her energy, leadership experience, critical thinking skills, and knowledge of renewable energy systems to advocate for members of Chugach Electric’s Board of Directors.
Stuart Parks has served Chugach members as a director since 2017, and prior to that, was on Chugach Electric Association’s Renewable Energy Committee from 2007 to 2009. He has lived in Anchorage for 25 years and brings three decades of experience in leadership, business operations, and engineering to the Chugach board. Stuart is committed to reaching a goal of having 100% clean energy by 2050 and wants to begin by making sure the Chugach board develops a strategic plan to focus on transitioning to a clean energy utility. He has supported renewable energy investments like community and rooftop solar, electric vehicles, and carbon reduction goals, and wants to make renewables and energy-efficient upgrades more affordable and accessible for low-income families and renters, through the implementation of policy and programs like the Property Assessed Clean Energy Program (PACE), and customer contribution programs. Stuart is dedicated to listening to members and serving their best interests and hopes to continue representing us on the Chugach Electric Board of Directors.
