Maxine Dibert

Downtown Fairbanks
House District 31

I was born and raised in Fairbanks. Both of my parents are Koyukon Athabascan, and like my Ancestors, I have been blessed to have grown up fishing and hunting with my grandparents and parents on the Yukon River and in other regions across the state. Watching my family subsist and prepare their traditional foods and seeing the joy and health that it brought us was an integral part of my upbringing and helped shape who I am today. So to now see our fish numbers decline and my family’s inability to go to fish camp in the summer and fill our freezers is detrimental to our spirit. I want to work with other legislators to find solutions to ensure all Alaskans have a voice down in Juneau regarding the management of our fish, our water, and our land.
