Family Programs

These Trailside Discovery Camp led programs are fun for all ages; mark your calendars! Dates and locations subject to change, please RSVP to trailside@akcenter.org or call 907.274.KIDS.

June 17: Family Canoeing, Kayaking, & Paddle Boards (Ages 6 & UP) at Goose Lakeak group5

Bring your family out for this Saturday of sunshine, splashes, and smiles. The water rodeo will begin at 10:00am and continue until 3:00pm. Trailside Discovery will supply canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards at Goose Lake. Families will be able to utilize equipment provided by Trailside at no cost.

July 20: Trailside Discovery’s 35th Birthday Party at the Campbell Creek Science Center

Parents, grandparents, campers of all ages; come one, come all! Join Trailside Discovery for our 35th birthday celebration. From 4:30pm – 6:30pm at the Campbell Creek Science Center there will be carnival games, a bounce house, face painting, a creek study and—most importantly—cake and ice cream!

July 29: Family Fat Tire Bike Ride Campbell Tract (Ages 9 & UP) at Abbott Loop Park

Join this Fat Tire Bike FRENZY from 10:00am – 3:00 pm. Trailside Discovery will provide fat tire bikes for ages 9+ to take off and tear up trails in a free ride area set up at Abbott Loop Park. Campers will learn general bike safety, passing etiquette, and how to be wildlife aware on trails. If you own a fat tire bike don’t leave it at home to gather dust—join us and crush the Trails!

August 4: Alaska Native Culture Keepers at the Campbell Creek Science Center

Trailside’s AK Native Culture Keepers classes for ages 4-9 will be holding a potlach on Friday August 4th and parents are invited! Students will lead activities such as beading and dancing. Native Elders will be present to share their knowledge, emphasizing Alaskan art and culture.

August 10: Alaska Wild Salmon Day

Celebrate our salmon, wild salmon bake, face painting, fat tire bike riding, corn hole games, and more. Location TBD, please check back in July for more information.


 

Parent Half-Day Programs

Parents can enroll their campers in either an “AM”(9am-12pm) or “PM” (1pm- 3pm) class and attend it with them! Register today>>DSC_0365
