Trailside Discovery Summer Programs
Summer programs in Anchorage and Palmer for Trailside Discovery Camp
Thanks for a Wonderful 2008 Summer Camp Season!
As yet another summer of Trailside Discovery Camp has drawn to a close, a glance back on our 2008 adventures reveals achievements beyond the scope of past years. Enrollment for 2008 was the highest in all of Trailside’s 26 year history. With a variety of brand new day programs such as Amazing Arthropods; Geology Rocks; Rubble, Bones, and Bedrock; and Eco Challenge, plus overnight adventure trips including two kayak trips to Kachemak Bay, backpacking in Hatcher Pass and Denali State Park, and a multitude of paddling, climbing, biking, and hiking trips throughout South Central Alaska, it’s no surprise that more than 2,200 campers flocked in to check out what Trailside had to offer. Campers’ scholarships to attend Trailside soared off the charts as well. Thanks to the generous support of the Alaska Geological Society, First National Bank of Alaska, Alaska Conservation Foundation, Conoco Phillips, CIRI, the Rasmusson Foundation, the Skaggs Foundation, AT&T, as well as bidders at the ACE Spring Auction and our continued partnership with the Migrant Education Program, Partners In Homeless Education, and the ARC of Anchorage, TDC assisted more than 80 children who would otherwise not have the means to attend summer camp. Furthermore, this summer witnessed a record expansion of our Spring Creek Farm camp with 5 weeks of programming including our first ever overnight camping trips heading out from our Palmer base camp to fun and thrills at Eklutna Lake and Hatcher Pass! Despite the cloudy skies and cooler temperatures, TDC marched on day after day and truly made it an amazing summer!
Though the 2008 summer season has come to an end, you can still check out all the fun times and amazing programs by heading to our media gallery or checking out our 2008 brochures to the left.

On behalf of the entire Summer 2008 Puffin Crew, the Puffin Pals (Tom, Terra, Brittany, & Geo) would like to say "Thanks for another awesome summer!"
