We Want Commuter Rail between Anchorage and Mat-Su

We want commuter rail between Anchorage and Mat-Su.

Approximately 11,000 people commute between Anchorage and the Mat-Su valley every day. Palmer and Wasilla serve as bedroom communities to Anchorage, as well as being part of an entire Southcentral regional population center. World financial instability and the energy crisis that is permanently changing how suburban America lives demands a progressive solution.

In June, Anchorage Mayor Mark Begich and Mat-Su Borough Mayor Curt Menard announced the formation of a Regional Transportation Advisory agreement, designed to improve mass transit in Southcentral Alaska, and coordinate regional efforts to start commuter rail and other solutions for commuters facing skyrocketing gas prices. ACE envisions a sustainable public transit system between Mat-Su and Anchorage that includes commuter rail coordinated with buses and vanpools in entire region.
