Rolling Up our Sleeves and Getting our Hands Dirty

HELP!  The brassicas are bold, the cilantro is thriving, and the potatoes are getting serious.  But the weeds are almost as tall as we are!  Lend a hand and join in the fun on Tuesday, July 5th at 5:30pm in the C Street Community Garden (19th and C Street)

We will have regular volunteer evenings on Tuesdays all summer at 5:30pm at the C Street Garden.  Even if you don't know a thing about gardening, you can learn while having fun with friends and neighbors!

What's in Season:

On-the-Ground

The ‘on the ground', or get-your-hands-dirty level of our Local Food Campaign focuses on community and backyard gardening.  This tier of our campaign focuses on building our backyard resources, strengthening our community, and providing tools and resources for everyone to participate in the local food movement – not just those who can afford AK Grown at the supermarket.  We also hope that by building our network of local expert gardeners (and budding gardeners!) we can bring people up through the other levels of our campaign.  We figure if someone is willing to roll up their sleeves to dig in the dirt and grow yummy AK veggies, at some point down the line we can also call on them to write a letter, volunteer at an event, or make a phone call to support AK Grown.

Get involved by contacting Alli via e-mail or at 274-3662.
