VolunteerGeneral Volunteer Opportunities with Alaska Center for the Environment Volunteering with ACE is a great way to take action, learn more about a conservation issue that interests you, and to have fun. Volunteer activities at ACE range from a couple hours worth of work, to more time-intensive projects. Volunteer with ACE, apply here:
Conservation Research
Conservation Research Are you concerned about an environmental issue and willing to put some time into making a difference on that issue? ACE is up against some formidable opponents on many issues and member involvement is often the key to stopping harmful projects and moving positive solutions forward.
Research Projects: With so many industrial and commercial ventures being proposed in Alaska, it is hard to keep up with the background research on these projects. If you have some spare time to conduct internet research and/or make calls, you could play a vital role in providing background information for ACE grassroots activity. Sample Projects include: Chuitna coal mine Chickaloon coal proposal Clear-cuts in the Mat-Su Valley Knik Bridge research on financing and costs Chugach Wild Forest Campaign Hands-On: Get Your Hands Dirty
There is nothing more rewarding than digging in, getting your hands dirty and spending the afternoon making a difference in your community. ACE offers a number of clean-up and recycling projects that allow you to have a positive impact in just a few short hours. Hands-on projects typically take place between May-September. Past projects include, trail repair projects, invasive weed-pulls, liter pick-ups in parks and waterways, beach clean-ups and recycling at events.
Events
One way Alaska Center for the Environment makes a difference is by getting out in the community and bringing people together through celebration.
