Alaskan Health: Eating locally means eating fresher food with more nutrients.

Alaskan Economy:  Alaskans spend 2.6 billion dollars on food each year, but only 1.3% of that is produced in Alaska!

Alaskan Security:  If our shipping networks were disrupted, estimates show that we only have 3-5 days of food on the shelves.

What you can do:

Ak Grown logo1.  Buy Alaska Grown produce to help support our local farmers and our economy.

2.  Visit your local Farmers Market or join a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program to buy directly from farmers and get to know your food.

3.  Learn more about what ACE is doing to support local foods in Alaska.

4.  Find out what Alaska could actually grow (its more than cabbages and rhubarb!)

5. Sign up to support a local processing facility in the Mat-Su Valley that would make it possible to preserve Alaska produce for year-round, in-state consumption.

6. Become a member of Alaska Center for the Environment today!  By joining ACE, you can strengthen the local food movement in Alaska and support our on going work!
