Wildlife Management in Alaska
Learn about the policies that affect the wildlife resources we have in Alaska.
Wildlife Management Policies & the Board of Game
Currently, many of Alaska's wildlife management policies are driven by special interests rather than biology or ecosystem management. Alaska Center for the Environment (ACE) believes that our wildlife policies should reflect the diversity of our state's interests and include representation for wildlife viewing, tourism, and ecosystem management - in addition to recreational and subsistence hunting and trapping.
You can help protect wildlife resources for all Alaskans by adding your voice to the conversation, commenting on Board of Game proposals, and staying up to date on current management policies.

Board of Game - ACE believes that the current Board of Game is out of balance and needs some representation for wildlife viewing and tourism.
Predator Control - Since the implementation of this policy, over 1000 wolves and hundreds of bears (including sows and cubs) have been killed through controversial methods, including aerial shooting, baiting, snaring, and the use of poison gas in dens.
