Mining in Alaska

Mining through a salmon stream is a bad idea.  Destroying one resource for another makes no sense.  From coal to copper, there are many current and proposed mining projects that Alaska Center for the Environment (ACE) is currently monitoring.  Click on the links below to find out more about these projects and how you can get involved.

Chuitna Coal Mine - Current plans call for directly mining through 11 miles of salmon spawning and rearing habitat.

Proposed Pebble Mine - This massive project threatens the world's largest salmon fishery in Bristol Bay.
