Current Volunteer Opportunities with Alaska Center for the Environment

Volunteering with Alaska Center for the Environment (ACE) is a great way to take action, learn more about conservation issues in Alaska, and have fun!  Volunteer activities at ACE range from a couple hours to more time-intensive projects.

SPRING 2011

Spring Auction

It is your favorite ACE event. Now you can help make it even better!  This year the auction will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011 (Earth day!) at the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center and we are currently looking for volunteers. This is ACE's largest fundraising event and all proceeds support our programs to protect wild places, foster sustainable communities, and promote recreation. A variety of duties and shifts are available.

If you are interested in volunteering at the auction please contact Jessica@akcenter.org or 274-3647.

Creek Clean Up and Scoop the Poop

Anchorage Waterways Council is organizing the now famous Scoop-the-Poop day. It will take place at the University Dog Park and Connors Bog on April 23, from 11 am - 3 pm. For more information, click here.

ACE will be helping to clean up our local waterways on May 14th.  Come and join our team of trash picker uppers. If interested in joining our team, contact Valerie Connor at valerie@akcenter.org or 274-3632.

Bear Aware Education

We are seeking interested volunteers who like doing outreach and talking about bears and how humans can reduce their risks of a negative human-bear encounters.  The Anchorage Bear Committee has many events throughout the summer where we will be giving out materials and speaking to the public.  Become a bear ambassador!  Help is needed at the Kenai River Festival from June 10th to 12th in Soldotna.

For Salmon Lovers

The Chuitna Citizens Coalition needs help doing outreach at an upcoming show in Soldotna:

Kenai Peninsula Sport, Recreation and Trade Show, Soldotna Friday May 6 - Sunday May 8.
