‘Bear Aware’ Film Contest

Members of the public are invited to submit short bear safety films or videos about how to live and recreate responsibly in bear country. Use your creative talents to help educate Anchorage residents about how to be safe around bears. The Submission deadline is May 1st and winners will be announced May 8th.

Use your creative talents to help educate Anchorage residents about how to be safe around bears and enter to win a great prize!  The deadline for entering your bear safety film is May 1, 2009 and winners will be announced May 8, 2009.

Grand Prize:

A four-day, four-night trip for two to Homer and Alaska’s Hallo Bay Bear Camp, Katmai National Park, including airfare and lodging. For the winner and a guest. Courtesy of Alaska’s Hallo Bay Bear Camp, Smokey Bay Air, Grant Aviation and Hoedel’s B&B and the Ocean Shores in Homer. Includes airfare from Anchorage to Homer, airfare from Homer to Hallo Bay, two days of guided bear-viewing , two nights at Alaska’s Hallo Bay Bear Camp and two nights lodging in Homer. Reedemable between May 15 & Sept. 15 based on remaining space available.

Youth (17 and under) $50 REI Gift Certificate
Adult (18+) $50 REI Gift Certificate

Please limit movies to no more than five minutes in length. Entries must be turned into the Wildlife Information Center at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game by 4:30 p.m. on 5/1/09. For more information including contest rules, contact:
