Coal Deposits and Leasing Permit Areas in the Matanuska Coalfield

Alaska Coal Dust

Background:

Multiple potential mining operations are located within the Matanuska Coalfield in the heart of the Matanuska Valley, Alaska's breadbasket and a premier recreation destination.

Wishbone Hill prospects have been permitted to Usibelli Coal Mine of Healy, Alaska and include rights to 7434 acres.  The Chickaloon lease lands cover 22,000 acres that the Alaska Mental Health Trust Authority has awarded to Riversdale Alaska, an Australian company.  The Jonesville Mine has around 1450 acres of coal.
