4742730427_a376f3f430_bAYEA Chapters are youth-led groups, made up of teens who have attended AYEA trainings, as well as those who have not! They take action through participation in campaigns around statewide issues, as well as other local projects. AYEA Chapters are youth-led, with adult mentors playing a support role. Chapters can work on statewide AYEA campaigns, like last year’s climate change campaign. Chapters can also take on local issues such as recycling in schools.

Right now there are AYEA chapters in: Anchorage, Palmer, Unalaska, Utqiagvik (formerly known as Barrow), and Homer. Contact AYEA staff to get connected with AYEA teens in your town.

No chapter where you live? You can start a project yourself! Click here to download our chapter application and learn more about starting your own chapter of AYEA.

Adult Volunteers

  • Must support youth voice and enjoy working with teenagers
  • Must be at least 18 years old and out of high school
  • Must pass a background check for working with minors

AYEA is looking for new adult mentors across the state. Click here for more information.

AYEA is supported and led by a Statewide Advisory Board we affectionately call “SWAG”. SWAG is always a fun group of dynamic, committed youth leaders, graduates and mentors. Click here to learn more about the advisory board.

More info coming soon about opportunities for adults to support AYEA. For now, check out our calendar of upcoming events and contact AYEA staff if you would like to get involved.
